JoekerStraightFlush - December Update

Yo guys, Joeker here. After a month of absence TheDokta and myself have returned to the blog! After reaching one of our goals for the blog we thought we would both take a short break, in order to do...well, real life things. We have since returned and have many things planned for the blog's future! So, let's jump right in and take a look at a few of the things that we'll be doing around here.

OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's go Kamen Riders - Review

Well guys, here I am with my review for the 40th anniversary movie for Kamen Rider, OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's go Kamen Riders!

Riderrrr, Tamashii!

To start off, this movie is wrongly titled. It SHOULD be "Den-O, Double Riders, All Riders: Let's go Kamen Riders" as the most screen time anyone from OOO got was Ankh (Usually floaty hand Ankh too).

MMPR: A Friend in Need and My thoughts about Masked Rider.

So, guys. I watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and every other Power Rangers series up to Wild Force when I was growing up. It's no surprise, but I loved them. Recently though, my love for Power Rangers has changed into a love for Kamen Rider and to a lesser extent, Super Sentai. One of the episodes I didn't get to watch as a kid, or at least don't remember watching (I do remember having a Masked Rider and Masked Rider Super Gold figure, though.) was the "A friend in need" 3 parter for MMPR. So, I decided to watch it. Now, i'm going to do a quick review of the episodes, then give my thoughts about what the Saban's Masked Rider series could have been, instead of the garbage we got.

I have to admit, this was an epic moment for me.

JoekerStraightFlush - Anime-Planet.com reviews

Hey guys, Joeker here. You know, I do lots of reviews on this blog. But some reviews are just too short to be published here. For those, I do them at www.anime-planet.com. This is where all my Anime/Manga reviews that are too short to be published on the blog go. My user account there is called Tsukasa112, so you can check them out at anytime. I'm making this post however to give you a list of the anime/manga that I've currently reviewed there, so you can check them out.

Angel Beats is a series I recently reviewed there, which you can check out here: http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Tsukasa112/reviews/6349

High School Debut - Review

Well guys, this is my first JMovie review. High School Debut, I haven't read the manga nor do I intend to ever read. It's not that I don't like Shojou, it's just without magical girls flying around it can get a bit boring. But an entire Manga series summed up into a movie? That I can do.

I'm gonna get this off my chest now. I would probably never watch a movie like this if it were made anywhere else in the world. Japan always seems to have it's own distinct styles of doing things, even when doing a romance movie like that that is able to make it appealing and fun for everyone; Not just teenage girls. It shows all to well in this movie, The movie's humor and gags can be enjoyed by anyone and the characters were all fun too.

Digimon Xros Wars - The Boy Hunters who Leap through time - Impressions.

Yo, guys. Joeker here, as usual. Today I'm gonna give you all my early impressions of Digimon Xros Wars - The boy Hunters who leap through time, the new series of Digimon. I've loved Digimon since I first watched Adventure when I was around 7 and still do today, unlike most people when it comes to Digimon I have a soft spot for every series, because they are all good in their own ways. But, let's take a look at the new series, based on it's first two episodes.

What i'm about to tell you is no secret. I loved Xros Wars. In all honesty, I Think it was probably the best Digimon season we'd had so far. The characters, Digimon, plot and villains were all well done, in fact better done then the past series before it. But how does it's sequel hold up? Well, let me tell you....

Shakugan no Shana III/Final - Episode 1

To start off, I knew this came out this month, but had no clue it was so soon! I absolutely love Shakugan no Shana, it was the first anime I willingly watched subbed and for that has a special place in my heart. I was really looking forward to this season and the first episode was most certainly not a let down! This review will contain spoilers of the episode, so do read at your own risk.

dat animation
This episode starts out with one of those "This is what's gonna happen near the end" kind of moments. It shows an Evil Yuji and Shana fighting, Yuji saying he will save her. It's at this point I figure "Oh hey, cool. I already knew this would happen from the trailer. I can't wait to see how Yuji ends up evil." But, to my surprise...things happened a little differently.

The Skull Man - Triple review

Yo, guys. Joeker here! Today, I'll be bringing you a three in one review of Skullman. Today we'll be taking a look at the original oneshot manga by Shotaro Ishinomori, the 2007 anime series and the Live action special.

Well, I guess we'll start off with the manga then,The Skull Man.
It was hard to get used to his suit design here after watching the anime first.
As we all know.. or at least I hope we all do, Skull Man is what inspired Kamen Rider. You can see the resemblance he shares with Kamen Rider 1 in appearance, well the helmet at least. Grasshopper, Skeleton. Yeah, they are similar. Well, anyway. I'm gonna level with you guys here. I don't get it. I heard when this manga was first released it "Instantly become popular and a huge success." Well, I have two problems with that. The first is, if it was so popular, why did it to unheard of until 1998, when Kazuhiko Shimamoto "remade" the manga and the second is, it's really not that good

Kamen Rider Retrospective #2 - Den-O

Now, this is a weird thing to retrospective. Even I know this. But hey, It got requested a few times and it's pretty hard to deny that the 2007 series, Kamen Rider Den-O is probably one of the most influential Kamen Rider series to date (Whether that's a good or bad thing, we'll get to later) So sit back, grab some popcorn or whatever while I talk to you guys about Kamen Rider Den-O.

Primary Characters of Den-O: Hana, Naomi, Momotaros, Kintaros, Urataros, Owner and Ryoutaro
Kamen Rider Den-O first aired in 2007 and had two motifs: Trains and Time. Imagin, the monster of this series have come from their time to go back in time even further to change the future. Ryoutaro (Kamen Rider Den-O) and his own trusty Imagin companions however, travel back in time using the DenLiner (Time traveling Train) to destroy the Imagin's. It's a pretty simple plot really. But it manages to entertain. As the series go on the secondary rider, Kamen Rider Zeronos (Yuuto Sakurai) is introduced and I'll stop there because 1. I'm not here to spoil (But I might.) and 2. I'm not here to talk about the plot or any of that.

Kamen Rider Climax Heroes Fourze

Another year, another Climax Heroes! This is a followup to my previous post which can be found here. I will be covering all of the things we know about Climax Heroes Fourze, along with rumors and what I'd like to see in this game.

So far, we know there will be Showa Riders in this game. Confirmed so far are Ichigo, Nigo, V3, Amazon, Black, Black RX along with Shadow Moon. These are some excellent additions to the game. Also, as far as we know all of the characters from the past games will be in this game, and there will be around 50 playable riders and possibily 100+ forms.

Ocarina of Time 3D Review

And here we are! Back again with my promised review The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
Without further adieu lets get started!

Graphics: SO the main difference between the N64 and the 3DS version of the games is the graphics overhaul. The 3DS being much more powerful hardware (obviously) can handle up to PS2\ Gamecube graphics. Grezzo the co producer of this remake has decided to scale them up just enough for it to still feel like OoT whilst looking beautiful. Textures, Lighting and even certain models have been redone and rendered in 3D. To get a sense of the games depth you really have to play; the 3D offers some assistance in determining distance in some tricky platforming. What more is there to say, The picture below says it all...

So beautiful!

Controls: This was going to be one of my most worried about things before OoT3D came out.
I was wondering how they could have emulated the N64 C-Buttons. Then I saw some screen shots of them using the touchscreen for the use of items and the map. I thought that was a great idea. And it was. The Iron Boots and Hover Boots have now been made items for quick and easy access. The L and R buttons act as the Z and R buttons respectively. The controls are easy to get used to and not uncomfortable in anyway.

Audio: Here is where I thought they were well..lazy. This remake still uses the original MIDI music from the original. Sure the music for the time was great but nowadays they had the chance to orchestrate or at least fiddle with the MIDI to make it sound less electronic. Remember its not everyday a company gets to remake a classic. That being said there IS one orchestrated track in the game but I'll let all of you out there who havent played it yet go out and do so.

A legendary game deserving of this 3D remake. One final note, the 3D in my opinion adds great depth and a feel of being in the game. GO OUT THERE RIGHT NOW; Purchase a 3DS and this game you will not be disappointed. Lastly I must apologize for this review taking FOREVER but i was really busy during the last few weeks of school and had to put this off. I hope you can forgive MEEEEEE! Next review WILL be out this Friday. I promise.

Birth of the 10th! Kamen Riders All Together!! - Review

Kamen Rider Week carries on, with a review of the 1984 TV Special, "Birth of the 10th! Kamen Riders All Together!!"!
This TV Special Ran for 40 minutes, however there was also a 60 minute version - the one i watched. The 60 Minute version starts out with a good 20 minutes or so of Kamen Rider history, which after that, we learn about ZX origins. Ryo Murasame and his younger sister were investigating a UFO crash over the Amazon (AAAMAAAAAAZON!) only to be taken by the very same UFO. Ryo's sister was killed and he was turned into a Cyborg, Ryo eventually regains his memories however and leaves behind the Badan empire, who wish to rule the world.

Kamen Rider Retrospective #1 - Form Changing

Yo everyone, Joeker here. I'd like to give you a welcome to a new series we'll be doing on the blog, called: Kamen Rider Retrospective. In this series, we'll be taking a look back on certain themes or aspects of Kamen Rider, seeing where they originated from and how they've evolved, etc. And this will be the first in the series we'll be taking a look at, something that is commonly seen in Kamen Rider today: Form Changing.

Despite what a lot of fans believe (Mostly Black/RX fanboys), the first form changing Rider was in fact Kamen Rider Stronger. After Stronger had something called an "Electro Dynamo" placed in his body, he had the power to "Charge Up", which not only gave him more strength, but for the first time in Rider history, also gave him a new look.

Stronger, in his Charge Up form.

Kamen Rider - Climax Heroes OOO review

Kamen Rider Week continues, this time with a review for last year's Kamen Rider game, Climax Heroes OOO!
Some nice boxart too.
It had been a few years since we'd gotten any Kamen Rider games, Kamen Rider Kabuto being the last. But, 4 years later we we're gifted with Kamen Rider Climax Heroes, for the PS2. This game had the lead riders for each Heisei series, along with other riders, playable, in a Rider Vs. Rider fighting game. A year later we got Climax Heroes W, a port to the Wii that included the 11th Heisei rider, W. But, in 2010 we we're given one of the best Kamen Rider games to date. Climax Heroes OOO.

Kamen Rider ZO - Movie Review

To commence our "Kamen Rider Week" we'll be starting with a review of the movie "Kamen Rider ZO"! So, lets get started, shall we?

ZO, is not a BAD movie. However, i have a hard time saying it's anything more then just...mediocre. I guess it was pretty decent for a Kamen Rider movie, but that's all i can really say. It just wasn't what i had gone in expecting it to be. I'd heard from a lot of people ZO was a good Kamen Rider movie, and it wasn't bad at all. But...Just not that good.

JoekerStraightFlush Announcement - Kamen Rider Week!

Hey guys, Joeker here. We originally had a few plans for this blog, and some of the things we hoped to do in the future with it. But at the moment, all of that great stuff down the line is being put on hold, as this week for JoekerStraightFlush, it will be Kamen Rider Week!

"Kamen Rider Week?", you ask? That's right. This week we will be doing multiple Kamen Rider related things, with an attempt to do at least 1 each day, if not more. What kinda things? We'll be bringing reviews of Kamen Rider Series or Movies, Games, Gameplay videos, etc. This will last for a whole week, that's exactly 7 days folk, 7 days of Kamen Rider-ie goodness!

I'll also be adding a note on the blog's facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/JoekerStraightFlush
about some things that i'd like to improve on or add to the blog, so in the meantime, stay tuned and stay excited!

Pretty Cure All Stars DX3: Deliver the Future! The Rainbow~Colored Flower That Connects the World - Review

Just a couple Cures in this movie.
Well, guys. I just recently got into the Pretty Cure series, as it may be evident by my earlier episodic reviews for Suite Precure, but just recently this movie got subbed by Doremi-CureCom, so, even with my limited Pretty Cure knowledge i decided to give it a try; and to my surprise, it was actually an enjoyable movie, especially if you're a 9 year old Japanese Girl. Hell, it's even enjoyable if you're a 17 year old guy like myself.

Well i hope those that choose to check it out like it and those that don't your loss... any way this was my first try at bloging dont be mean and my next blog will be about the many types of graphic art there is.

Code Geass Vs. Death Note

Code Geass and Death Note are two anime that are often compared with each other. So, i'm gonna take a look at them both together and see what series is the better of the two.

From left to right: Code Geass - Lelouch, C.C, Suzaku. Death Note - L., Light, Ryuk.
The main cast is also often compared. Death Note has Two Protagonists. The Anti-Hero main character, Light Yagami and the and the actual hero of the series, who is portrayed as an Antagonist, L. There is another major character named Ryuk, who is a Death God. He is the one responsible for giving Light his Death Note. Code Geass follows three characters, The Anti-Hero Protagonist of the series, Lelouch. His childhood best friend turned enemy, who is portrayed as an antagonist, Suzaku, and the girl who gave Lelouch his Geass, an "Immortal Witch" named C.C.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - Series Review

Well, having recently rewatched this series, i thought i would review it. I won't just be reviewing this either. I'll also be reviewing Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, along with...Code Geass - Nightmare of Nunnally! There's also some other Code Geass related media i am looking into reviewing, but for now i'm not too sure on anything else. Well, with all that said and done, let's get on with this review.

Well, you guys don't need me to tell you how good of a series this is. But i'll tell you all anyway. Code Geass is a great series and i'm sure there aren't many who will disagree with that.

The World God Only Knows II - Series Review

Well, today the last episode of The World God Only Knows II aired. I'm sure many fans were disappointed it's come to an end already, and i for one am one of them. However, i think there is still hope for a season 3 as well. So, Let's get this review underway.

It's always surprised me how great TWGOK is. I first heard about it last year before the first season aired, i was browsing MangaFox and saw it in the top manga, and thought i'd give it a try and was instantly hooked. The second season follows the same plot as the first; Keima, otherwise known as the god of conquest hates the real world, and only cares for 2D girls. He however has to capture "Loose Souls" that have made their way into the crevices in the heart's of girls by making them fall in love with him. With such a simple plot, you'd think it'd be terrible. But it's the characters that makes up for it..

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Super Fusion! Bonds That Transcend Time - Review

Well, guys. With the Yugioh 10th anniversary movie finally subbed, i thought i'd give it a review. I've been waiting for this movie since last year, and it certainly did not disappoint me at all.

This movie first introduces Paradox; This movie's villain. He's from a distant ruined future, apparently caused by Duel Monsters. Because of this he travels back to the past in order to kill Pegasus, the creator of Duel Monsters. The only one's who are able to stop him are the three "Heroic Duelists"(I'm not sure if that's what he even called them. But it was something like that.), Yusei, Judai and Yugi.

Mei-Chan no Shitsuji - Series Review

Continuing on my trend of reviewing J-Drama, this is my review of a series i just recently watched, Mei-Chan no Shitsuji. Translated as "Mei's Butler". This series stars both Mizushima Hiro and Takeru Sato, so as a fan of Tokusatsu, as soon as i learnt they were both starring in it, i could not help myself but watch it. So, without further adue, lets get started.

This series was very fun. As a Tokusatsu fan, one of the big appeals for me was the Toku actors in this series. Aside from Mizushima Hiro and Takeru Sato, it also had  Keisuke Kato (Nago/Kamen Rider IXA) and Yuki Kimisawa (Kirihiko/Nasca Dopant) and Chise Nakmura (Natsuki/BoukenYellow), which i thought was a pretty neat cast.

Kamen Rider OOO 38 & Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger 17 - The BIRTH of AbareAhim❤ ❤ ❤ ...And GokaiSilver

Alright, unlike my last review this one is only a bit over a week late! Again, sorry for that. I'll be sure to get this weekends OOO and Gokaiger done right away. I'll probably do them in separate posts like usual, i'm only doing these combined because they are so late. Again, we'll start with OOO 38 and work our way down to Gokaiger 17. So, here we go!

Directly following the events of the last episode, Date and the Greeeds fight against OOO, completely dominating him. Gotou decides to man up, and chases the Greeeds away with a small army of candroids and fire. I really found the acting in the last two episodes to be pretty great for Kamen Rider quality. Along with the development of Gotou's character. I originally hated Gotou. Since the first episode. He was always such a straight-up asshole kinda guy. However, these last few episodes have really changed my opinion on him...Made me realize he is someone capable of becoming...Kamen Rider Birth!

Kamen Rider OOO 37 & Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger 16

Talk about late, Eh guys? Sorry about that. Since i ended up being so late with Gokai 16 i figured I'd wait 'till i watch OOO 37 and just review them both in one post. It's almost 2AM here, so excuse me if this review isn't the best in the world. Well, then let's get started with Kamen Rider OOO 37.

Hina in a ChinaGirl dress? Yes Please.
This episode was made of win. I'm sure it won't be as much win as the next episode though. Let's just take a quick recap on the events that led us here. Uva Revived Mezool and Gamel. They joined Maki, Cazali and Chibi-Ankh. They killed Uva. So, with the events of last episode, i thought that this episode couldn't get any better, well, i was surprised.

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Review

Another week, another review. To continue our little Zelda buildup to OOT3D here is THE WIND WAKER! I feel many people are sighing right now "Ugh Toon Link." But I promise to be fair here and disregard the fact that I'm not a massive fan of "Toon Link" either. And with that lets kick off this review.YOU!

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Review.

First let me state I apologize for last weeks lack of reviewingness, And the delay on this review but IT IS HERE! Majora's Mask the supposed sequel to Ocarina of Time and one of my favourite Zelda titles.

Its collectors edition!

This game is known for its darker tone and creepier atmosphere. This game wasnt really a "kids" game. The reason this game is so creepy is because of TINGLE! No not really ( for those of you who have not seen Tingle I highly suggest you do not Google image him)
Now LETS GET REVIEWING.

Pre E3 2011 Press Conference - Kojima's Announcements.

Hey guys, Joeker here. I just finished watching the Pre E3 2011 Press Conference, and thought i would tell you guys about the stuff Kojima talked about. Unfortunately, Kojima himself won't be attending E3 this year, so some guy who's name i cannot remember went to Kojima Productions in Japan, to get word from the man himself, Hideo Kojima.

His first big announcement was the "Transfarring" system. Some PS3 Titles will have Transfarring capabilities, which will allow you to Transfer your Game Data from your PS3 to your PSP, so you can play those games on the go. I Believe Kojima himself said this was to help "Bridge the gap" between console and portable gaming. He later went to tell us, that that was only Step 1 of his Transferring plan. With 2 more steps to follow:

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger - Episode 15 - GokaiDiend

He even kinda looks like Daiki..
This episode introduced Basco, who transforms into GokaiDiend and summons previous Sentai Warriors. Nah, he just summons the previous warriors with a Trumpet. Honestly, i excepted him to be like, some super badass pirate. But he really wasn't. Sure, he was cool. But he certainly wasn't as badass as i expected him to be.

Kamen Rider OOO - Episode 36

She's Back <3
For me, this episode is setting the path of the rest of Kamen Rider OOO. It should have been called "Beginings, Endings and Depression" Why depression? We'll get to that. This episode was pretty awesome. And this is probably the first time i'm doing an OOO review before Gokaiger.r Heck, even before Precure. Well, let's get started.

Digimon Xros Wars - Episode 37

This episode had a phenomenal amount of Nene fanservice. So expect mention of that. This episode has Nene finding her long lost little brother, Yuu. First i'd like to say, i just read Xros Wars chapter 11. Well, not read. Since i don't understand japanese. Just looked at it. And the Manga is turning out similar to the anime in a certain way...
Left: Manga Nene in Volume 11 Right Anime Nene in Episode 37
Nene gets....'restrained'. It's pretty fun to watch. Unfortunatly, it's only saddened by the fact it's Yuu who is doing it to her in the anime. Her precious little brother she's been searching for, for so long now. Also, in this episode Wisemon get's a Digixros! It's a kinda lame Xros though.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Review

O: Look who's back. Yes ME TheDokta has been invited to do weekly reviews and gaming updates.
For this week's review I shall be reviewing a popular game for the PSP; Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Firstly I'd like to say this is my favorite game of the series so far.

Our three protagonists, Terra, Ventus and Aqua.(from left to right)

Kamen Rider OOO - Episode 35

ohay Nobunaga. Nvm, It's just badass Eiji.

This episode was made of win. From start to finish, it was win. First off, we got Eiji dressed up in an outfit of Hina's design. And it was badass. Eiji was all like, slick. He should wear it all the time, it'd make being OOO seem a lot more badass. There was also a bit of a revelation in this episode, but we'll get to that later.

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger - Episode 14

Overtime said that this episode is absurd. I Agree with that. This is the Gekisou Sentai Carranger tribute episode. Carranger is a series that parodies Kousoku Sentai Turboranger, however it's also considered it parodies Super Sentai as a whole. And you could really tell by this episode. I was stuck between laughing and saying "wait, wat?" throughout most of this episode.

Digimon Xros Wars - Episode 36

Another late review. Last week when i watched episode 35 of Xros Wars, i was really psyched for this episode. But didn't end up watching it till now. Now, i'm psyched again for episode 37. Seems as though it'll be a Nene episode. I Love Nene Episodes. Why? Because they have Nene in them. Anyway, let's get on with this review.

You tryin' ta steal Kiriha's DigiHoney?

Nyapunyapu! Suite PreCure♪ - Episode 14

For People Unable to See FaceBook Pages Posts in their FB News Feed.

Yo, guys. A few people have told me they've been unable to see posts from this blogs facebook page in their news feed. And i don't mean posts by 'NetworkedBlogs'. But the posts made by the actual page, pictures and such.

To fix this, go to your facebook homepage. Where it says "Most Recent" where your news feed is, click the arrow next to it followed by clicking 'Edit Options' from the dropdown menu. From there, make sure the 'Show Posts From' is set to 'All of your friends and pages'. Facebook seems to have been automatically changing people's settings recently. So this should fix that. You'll be able to see all of new blog posts from 'Networked Blogs' along with all of the sexy pictures that are posted.

Jumping The Guns A Little - Kamen Rider Climax Heroes Fouze Wishlist

Well, with the recent confirmation that this years new Kamen Rider would be called "Kamen Rider Fouze", and since Kamen Rider Decade, we have gotten a "Kamen Rider Climax Heroes" Game. The 3 current games in the series, Climax Heroes (PS2), W (Wii) and OOO (Wii & PSP) have evolved with each new entry, with better graphics, gameplay and character selection for each of them. But, of course, they missed out on things even with OOO. And here's my wishlist of things i hope they put in the next Climax Heroes, if we get one this year, that is.
Boxart for Climax Heroes OOO

The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time Review

Why hello there all. This is my first and maybe last review on this blog. Let me introduce myself as The Dokta. Today I shall be reviewing the classic Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.First of all let me say I loved playing this game as a kid (and still do) and in lou of the 3DS remake being released soon I thought I should review the original that got such high praise.
Those are some awesome polygons there.
